Service requests

WITHIN TARTU CITY LIMITS

Service requests can be made via the shelter’s general phone +372 53.33.9272 from Monday through Saturday 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Outside these hours, emergency calls can be made through the rescue agency number 112, but this is only for cases that present a danger to humans or animals.

We expect all individuals who call to describe the location of the animal and give a brief description of the animal (size, colour, behaviour, etc.), and we also ask that you describe the situation itself. Since our shelter’s car doesn’t have the same rights as an emergency vehicle, the speed of our arrival will be the same as any other car in the usual traffic of the city. It is important for the individual making the call to observe the animal’s movements until the shelter car arrives so as not to lose contact with the animal.

Outside tartu city limits

Outside Tartu’s city limits, we respond to calls from those local government territories that previously have contracts in place with our shelter for public services. Service requests need to always be confirmed by a local government representative.

Below is a link to the list of the shelter’s contractual partners and their contact numbers:

Reponses to service requests from outside Tartu’s city limits are usually on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

wild animals, farm animals and birds

Service requests regarding living wild animals or birds are not within the Tartu Animal Shelter’s jurisdiction. We have neither the means nor the specific competency to deal with these animals.

The Emergency Agency deals with wild animals and birds, and their number is 112.

Also, the Tartu Animal Shelter does not deal with farm animals (horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, etc.) due to the lack of room and suitable tools in our shelter. Local government officers would handle farm animals.
